Crichton University Campus Boat Club
The Crichton University Campus Boat Club (CUCBC) is a university rowing club based at the Crichton Campus - Dumfries (Scotland). It was established in 2012 and is sub-affiliated to the local Nithsdale Amateur Rowing Club (NARC) as well as being a member of Scottish Rowing.[1] CUCBC is the oldest and most successful club on the Dumfries Campus. Since 2012, its members have been competing at regional and national level and have won various regattas throughout Scotland and England - mainly at Strathclyde Park Regatta, Scottish Championships, Hexham Regatta, Tees Regatta, Nithsdale Regatta and Castle Semple Regatta.[2] Although the club's target is mainly beginners and novice rowers, a small section of the club is dedicated to more competitive rowing. The club has been Vice-Scottish Champions in Men's Novice Four (4+) twice in a row (in 2013 and again in 2014), Vice-Scottish Champion in Women's Novice Quad (4x+) in 2015 and was Scottish Champion in Men's Novice Quad (4x+) in 2015.[2] The colours of the club are red, white and blue as shown on the club's one piece.
Members
The members of the Crichton University Campus BC are students coming from the different institutions on the Dumfries Campus. These include: The University of Glasgow, The University of West of Scotland, The Dumfries & Galloway College, The Open University and the Scottish Rural Agricultural College (SRUC).[3]
Facilities and Training
The water sessions take place on the River Nith in Dumfries and the indoor sessions (weights, circuit trainings and ergo) are held indoor in the Nithsdale ARC boathouse. The Crichton University Campus BC shares facilities with Nithsdale ARC and own a few weights and rowing equipment (sweep rowing oars, etc.).
