Cristo Rey Network
The Cristo Rey Network comprises 26 high schools that provide Catholic, college preparatory education to urban young people who live in communities with limited educational opportunities. The schools utilize a Corporate Work Study Program to help cover tuition costs, at the same time giving students real-world job experience, greater self confidence, and an increased sense of the relevance of their education. This requires a longer school day and year.[1]
Book about Cristo Rey
In January 2008, Loyola Press released More than A Dream: How One School's Vision is Changing the World.[2] The book documents the development of the Cristo Rey model and the successes of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago and of the Cristo Rey Network of Schools.
