Cruentus is a Polish industrial metal band, with djent and progressive metal influences, formed in Szczecin, in 1999.

History

The band was formed in 1999 in Szczecin, Poland by Jakub "KRN" Lasota (bass guitar) and Tomasz "Archangel" Gabryel (guitar). In 2000 the group was joined by Robert "Binar" Gregorczuk (synthesizer, keyboards), Michał "Misiek" Kucharski (drums), Szymon "Shi-mon" Toda (guitar) and Roman "Romulus" Murzyński (vocals). Also in this year the band has recorded the first demo "Manifestation of Contemporary Universal Dementia" which sounds like Doom Metal/Gothic Metal. In 2001 Dariusz "Sulphur" Borajkiewicz has replaced Romulus on vocals. During the first five years of cooperation the band has recorded three demos and one LP - "Event Horizon" released by 22 Records in 2004. The style of the band could be described as Symphonic Black Metal. "Event Horizon" received a lot of positive reviews.

The next release of the band was demo "Technological Symphony". The band had started to use electronics in their music. In 2006 Cruentus released "Audition of Your Modern Nitemare" EP which was a big future improvement in band's career. They started to make extremely modern music - on "Audition(...)" the Modern Metal sound was mixed with Techno-Beats and a lot of synth-sounds. This very original release received many positive reviews, as was the case with "Event Horizon". They gained a considerable reputation in Industrial Music environment. In 2007 Marcin "Hyeev" Galicki has replaced Sulphur on vocals.

In 2008 Cruentus started recording a new LP. They changed the style again, to Industrial Metal, like Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad or early Mnemic and polyrhythmic themes, like Meshuggah, The Dillinger Escape Plan. There are also many clean-vocal moments and Metalcore influences. In 2009 Bartłomiej "Bart" Mieżyński has replaced MRTZ on drums and at the beginning of 2010 Michał "Alvaro" Waliszewski has replaced Shi-Mon on guitar.
In August 2010 the band released "Terminal Code". It contains 11 tracks composed by Jakub "KRN" Lasota and Tomasz "Archangel" Gabryel. In lyrics there are many quotations of Stanisław Lem or William Gibson. The lyrics in track "Love&Tensor Algebra" are an original fragment of Lem's Cyberiad. "Terminal Code" received a lot of very positive reviews in whole Europe.
In 2011 the band has announced the start of work on the next album, which will be in style of "Terminal Code", but there will be new influences, like dubstep and Djent.
