Crystal Lake is a Japanese metalcore band from Tokyo, formed in 2002.
History
Formation (2002–2005)
Crystal Lake was formed in 2002 in Tokyo, Japan. The demo "Freewill" was released in February in time for the show in Korea which they were invited to by Gmc Records. A second demo "One Word Changes Everything" came out in July, and a self released 4 track EP, also entitled "Freewill" was released in September, 1000copies were made and sold. September 2003 also saw Crystal Lake play 5 shows with Day Of Contempt.
On March to June, 2004 they toured with Loyal To The Grave and Extinguish The Fire. This tour later saw the release of a 3way split CD and DVD.
In 2005 the band released a split CD[1] with Risen and Unboy. They toured in Malaysia.
Dimension and Taste of Chaos 2007 (2006–2007)
On February, 2006, they performed at "Independence D". On July, 2006, the 1st full-length album "Dimension"[2] was released. its released by Imperium Recordings. Since the release of the album, they toured in Japan "Dimension Tour".
On February, 2007, they performed at "Metal Presentation"[3] with I Killed The Prom Queen, on Merch "Hatebreed Japan Tour"[4] and "Rockstar Taste of Chaos 2007[5] in Japan" on November.
Split EP and Taste of Chaos 2008 (2008–2009)
On May, 2008, they released split cd[6] with Cleave, and they performed at "Rockstar Taste of Chaos 2008[7] in Japan" on November.
On January, 2009, they toured Japan with Parkway Drive and Shai Hulud.[8][9]
Into the Great Beyond (2010) and Kentaro's departure (2011)
On May 27, 2010, Crystal Lake released free download demo[10] "Endeavor" on their MySpace page. Crystal Lake has announced through MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube new music video "Twisted Fate" from their upcoming album "Into The Great Beyond". Jun 11, 2011, Kentaro leaves the band.
Lineup change, new single "The Fire Inside / Overcome", "Cubes" (2012–present)
On Mar 24, 2012 Yusuke leaves the band. On Jul 3 2012, they announced new singer Ryo Kinoshita on their Facebook page.[11] "Today, we are pleased to announce the newest addition to the Crystal Lake Family, please give a warm welcome the new vocalist Ryo.". Next day they announced their support drummer Gaku Taura. They will be releasing a new single on this Summer.[12] On Sep 5, 2012 They released new single "The Fire Inside / Overcome". Mixed and Mastered by Brian Hood at 456 Recordings. On Jan 26 to Feb 1, 2013 they toured with As Blood Runs Black and Confession. On May, 2013 they toured with The Ghost Inside and Continents. After that they shared the stage with Emmure and they toured across Japan on the Sumerian Tour 2013 with Born of Osiris, Upon A Burning Body and Her Name In Blood. 2013 was big year for them. They supported tours for coldrain, Her Name In Blood, Crossfaith, Before My Life Fails, SiM, and Totalfat. On Feb 9, 2014 They played on the Scream Out Fest 2014 with The Devil Wears Prada, Periphery, The Word Alive, Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Her Name In Blood at Studio Coast Tokyo. On Apr 12, 2014 They played on the Monster Energy Outburn Tour 2014 with coldrain, Crossfaith, and Miss May I at Sapporo. They announced their EP called "Cubes" via YouTube page, which was released on August 6.[13] A music video for the new song "Ups & Downs" was released on July 28. On August 4 a music video was released for the cover of Limp Bizkit's song Rollin. On August 6, they released new EP called "Cubes" via Cube Records. Cubes debuted at #5 on the Oricon (Japanese music chart) indie weekly album chart / #45 on the weekly album chart / #27 on the daily album chart. On August 8 they headlined the True North Project tour, with support from Infection, Prompts, Sailing Before The Wind, Scarface, and Shark Ethic. They toured on the Crossfaith - ACROSS THE FUTURE[14] Tour with Crossfaith, We Came As Romans and While She Sleeps in September. On October 25, they started their headlining tour Cubes Tour 2014. On November 15, they performed on the Knotfest Japan 2014[15] On August 3, 2015 it was announced that bassist Yasuyuki Kotaka had decided to leave the band due to illness.
Signing To Artery Recordings and The Sign (2015-present)
On September 7, Crystal Lake announced they had signed to Artery Recordings in America and JPU Records in the UK and Europe and will be releasing their upcoming album The Sign on the labels.
