D.A.V. Public School, Chandrasekharpur is a public school in Chandrasekharpur in the state of Orissa, India located in Sailashree Vihar, Chandrasekharpur - a residential township in the northern part of the temple city of Bhubaneswar. Established on 4 August 1989, D.A.V. Public School, Chandrasekharpur began with only 90 students and 17 staff members. It grew and now has 3200 students and 179 staff members.[1]
History
Dr. Satapathy, the Principal of the school, has been honoured with several awards for his contributions to the school and education in the shape of 1996 “Mahatma Hans Raj Award” by DAV College Managing Committee, Delhi, in 1998 by Governor of Orissa for encouraging Scout Movement in the State, in 1999 honoured by the Chief Minister of Orissa for encouraging Community Development., in 2003 “Jana Swikriti Samman” for the holistic approach towards growth of integral education & successful conduction of 7th CBSE National Athletic Meet’02, in 2004 Received the “State Level Computer Literacy Excellency Award-2003” instituted by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India for Popularizing the IT awareness in the state from His Excellency Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the Hon’ble President of India, in 2005 Budh Ram Kaushaliya Devi Memorial Gold Medal Award by DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi for his outstanding contribution to the field of education in 2006 Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Ekta Samman-2006 by All India National Unity Conference in commemoration with the 63rd Birth Anniversary of Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, National Award to Teachers 2006 by the hon’ble president of India under the aegis of Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. He has now been also appointed to the governing body of the Central Board for Secondary Education.[2][3]
The school has been placed in top bracket category in std.X & XII CBSE examinations and in Std.VIII DAV Common Board Examinations in the country over the years. For the Academic excellence, the school has been awarded with “PRIDE OF DAV” Laurels from DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi for last 7 years consecutively.[4]
House System
The students of Std. V to XII are divided into 4 houses Apalla, Gargi, Maitreyi and Sikata after the names of women sages. The nominated leaders from all Houses of Std. VII, VIII, IX and XI form the school cabinet which takes oath in the investiture Ceremony organized in the beginning of the session. The school cabinet comprises the school leader, asst. school leader, house leader, asst. house leader and house representatives . The nominated leaders lead the house to participate in curricular and co-curricular activities under the guidance of House Co-ordinator and house teachers. The best house is awarded at the end of academic session.[5]
School Uniform
The students of the school are required to dress in a school uniform. The boys are required to dress in Beige half sleeve shirts, Brown colour pants(S.Kumar Shade No.290), Black laced shoe, and Beige socks with stripes. The girls are required to dress in Beige colour blouse, Green check tunic, Black buckled shoes, Beige socks with stripes, and White ribbon or band. In winter, a Brown colour V-neck sweater/cardigan with above uniforms may be worn. A Brown cap/scarf(if required) may also be worn On Fridays the house specific uniform needs to be used. on a Saturday, a White uniform is usually required for the P.T. assembly and on
School day
A standard school day lasts 6 hours and 15 minutes from 9:15 am until 3:30 pm and comprises 8 teaching periods lasting 40 minutes each. However, kindergarten and college classes have different timings.[5]

- Dr. Amar Kumar Behera, Fellow at The University of Leeds, UK[6]
- Piyush Puty, Filmmaker. Notable works include Wake Up Sid where he worked as the Assistant director, Don 2 where he worked as the Assistant director (India) and the Making of Lootera which he filmed and directed.[7] He started his own company in early 2014 and is now taking up projects.
School Academic Performance
The school has consistently produced outstanding results with nearly 100% students securing first class every year in the Board examinations conducted by D.A.V for Std. VIII and by C.B.S.E for Std. X and Std. XII.
