DC Super Hero Girls is an American super hero action figure franchise created by DC Comics subsidiary of Time Warner, and Mattel and launched in the third quarter of 2015.
Premise
At Super Hero High School, well-known DC heroes attend classes and deal with all the awkwardness of growing up (with the added stress of having superpowers).[1]
Announcement
The franchise was announced in April 2015. The range is to include books from Random House, Lego tie-ins and action figures from Mattel.[2]
Website
The website which was described as "hotly anticipated" was launched in early July 2015. Characters featured at launch were Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Katana, and Bumblebee.[3] Other characters including Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, Star Sapphire, Beast Boy, Cheetah, Hawkgirl and Catwoman also appear.[4] Amanda Waller is featured as the principal of the series' setting Super Hero High. Many other DC Comics Heroes and Villains appear in the background as cameos.

Web series
The DC Super Hero Girls has a series of animated shorts on YouTube and their site centered on the young heroines and villains attending Super Hero High. The first episode premiered on October 1, 2015.[5]

TV special and movie
A 1 hour TV special, titled Super Hero High aired on Boomerang on March 19, 2016.[6] An original movie, Hero of the Year, will be released on DVD.[7]
