DJP is the first full length studio album and second over-all release by Filipino teen actor and recording artist Daniel Padilla. It was first released digitally on April 11, 2013 under Star Records.[2] The physical distribution of the album was made available on April 15, 2013 in selected locations of all major record retailing companies in the Philippines and for the nationwide on the April 19, 2013.
DJP reached platinum status on April 16, 2013 with over 20,000 copies sold in less than 24 hours after its release exclusively in SM Mega Mall Manila.[3] After just in two days of release the album turned a double platinum status with 40,000 copies sold.[4]
Background
The album followed his 2012 double platinum eponymous debut album Daniel Padilla and his first film in a lead role Must Be... Love.
Composition
The album consists of ten tracks and a bonus track.[5] It also includes an acoustic version of "Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat" written by Jungee Marcelo, which Padilla interpreted at the 2013 Himig Handog: P-Pop Love Songs contest and became a popular hit in the Philippines. It also won several awards including MOR Listener’s Choice, Tambayan 101.9 Listener’s Choice, Star Records CD Buyer’s Choice and the MYX Choice for Best Video.[6][7]
Promotion
Daniel Live!
Last April 30, 2013, Daniel Padilla had his first headlining concert called "Daniel Live!" at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. It served as his birthday concert.[8][9] The concert featured Arnel Pineda, Yeng Constantino, Vice Ganda, Star Magic fellow artists including the 2013 batch, his own band Parking 5, and his love team partner Kathryn Bernardo as his special guests on the said show. The set list includes covers of Eraserheads' songs, mash ups of The Beatles' songs, his hit single "Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat", and "Hinahanap Hanap Kita" among others.[10]
Mall shows
After the success of his first major concert, Padilla will have a "Grand Fans Day" on May 12, 2013 at SM Skydome to thank his supporters.[11]
Singles
- "Kamusta Ka" was released on March 18, 2013 as the album's lead single.[1] A lyric video of the song was uploaded on Star Record's YouTube account.[12] It was first appeared in My Music Store Philippines by dominating the Digital Singles Chart for three consecutive weeks in April 2013.
