Dai Burger (born February 13, ?) (/deɪ/) [1] is an American, rapper from Queens, New York. The name "Dai Burger" comes from the way she describes herself, she says "..stacked and juicy."

Career

Burger debuted in 2010 with the project MyMixxxytape, hosted by rapper Junglepussy. The mixtape's lead single "Wild Thing" was accompanied by a colourful music video, produced by NY2LAcreative[2]

In 2011 Burger released her second compilation Raw Burger.[3] The project featured friend and fellow artist Junglepussy on the track "Titty Attack".

"In Ya' Mouf"(2014)

Burger's follow-up single "Soufflé" was produced by Shane Augustus for her 2014 EP In Ya Mouf! Dai Burger was ultimately named "Artist To Watch"[4] by RollingStone Magazine.

The music video for "Soufflé" premiered in Interview Magazine,[5] & was picked as one of the best feminist music videos of 2013.[6] Alex Chapman wrote in Interview Magazine, "The Queens native is an entertainer in every sense, and if you've seen her perform at Patricia Field's Fashion Week parties or any number of her gigs in the New York area, you're already more than aware of Ms. Burger's rare energy." Singer Solange Knowles' blog eventually caught wind of the single, and showcased it on her Saint-Heron[7] & wrote "..if mainstream met the underground again, Dai Burger needs to be the next character up to bat."

"In Ya' Mouf" released to a army of new listeners and fans via Complex Magazine[8] and was warmly received from several media outlets as a colorful, and sexy new look at the artist. Burger teamed up with Baltimore producer Mighty Mark for majority of the project, and both were heavily influenced by Baltimore Club music. Edwin Ortiz wrote "The 12-song project finds the Queens native displaying her knack for clever lyricism and a bossy attitude that can't be denied."

"Super-confident representative of girl power, Señorita Hamburguesa serves up sexy and up-front lyrics touching on sexuality, partying, and just plain ol’ cuntiness. Her confidence is bound to rub off on you after the first listen." wrote music critic Miz Kane of JackThriller.com[9]

"Dai Burger"(2015)

In September of 2015, Burger helped kick off TT The Artist's "Gimme Yo Love" Tour. This would be Burger's very first tour of the East Coast of the United States. The tour spanned roughly 10 cities, in 4 weeks.

Gearing up for her next project, Burger collaborated with London-based producer Darq E Freaker on the track "Choppin Necks".[10] "Choppin Necks" was hailed by critics as a futuristic dark song, in all the right ways. Burger delivered "jaw-dropping bars", according to James Keith from Complex.[11]

In an interview with Oxygen Network, Burger said "2015 has been a great year for me," Dai Burger told us. "I've taken all that I've learned in the past 5 years and turned it into somethat that showcases my true talent perfectly. Hopefully this project is just another stepping stone to my future endeavors. I'm ready for whatever's next & 2016's looking real good."

On December 4, 2015, Dai Burger premiered her 5-track self-titled project "Dai Burger"[12] exclusively with Dazed Magazine.[13] For this project she teamed up with UK powerhouse company Rinse.FM. The project showcased a slightly more vulnerable side of Dai Burger, while still remaining true to her deeply cultivated roots in the genre of hip-hop & R&B. She explored more alternative & melodic sounds, using live strings & instruments to help hone in the new sound. “I’ve learned to never question my artistry,” the rapper told Dazed. “Rarely do I alter my lyrics or tweak songs to points of no return. I follow my first instincts. And now with the help of my team, I'm sharper than ever. After three self-driven, ground-breaking mixtapes, I've come to the realization that my artistry has not changed along the way. In fact, I've regressed to whom I've always been, since day one. All leading up to who I am today.”[12]

Appearances & Collaborations

Burger's roots as a performer date back to her days as a backup dancer on tour with the rapper Lil Mama[14] She's also appeared in several music videos, one of which is for Beyoncé's "Party".[15] She was recognized at New York Fashion Week and a manager recruited her as a stylist for designer Patricia Field's clothing boutique.[16]

She's performed at infamous Patricia Field Fashion Week parties, and high-profiled events with celebrity clients & patrons.[17] Among other very notable performances, Burger performed at the first ever "Sound & Style" event in New York, hosted by Boss Lady and Reebok.,[18] and she's also performed as an opening act for Lil Wayne, and 2 chainz in Long Beach, NY in the summer of 2014.
