A member of Hearts Under-20 side,[1] Carrick made his Scottish Premier League debut on 4 August 2012, in a 2–0 win over St Johnstone.[2] On 23 August 2012, in only his second appearance he made his European debut as a substitute in a 1–0 defeat to Liverpool at Tynecastle.[3] His first goal for Hearts came on 18 January 2014, in a thrilling 3–3 draw against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.[4]

On 8 July 2015, Carrick left Hearts to pursue regular first team football, with his contract having been terminated by mutual consent.[7][8] He then signed a three-year contract with Kilmarnock.[9]

Scotland
