Damar (meaning mineral ore) is a belde (town) in Murgul district of Artvin Province, Turkey. At 41°14′N 41°35′E / 41.233°N 41.583°E it is just at the south east of Murgul . The population of the town was 807[1] as of 2013 which shows a sharp decline from 1233 in 2011. The town was once a district center. But in 1950 its status was reduced to a township. Damar is a mining town and is one of the main producers of copper in Turkey.
