Dan Rivera

Daniel Rivera is an American politician. As of November 5, 2013 is mayor of Lawrence, Massachusetts. The election was a close one, with the unofficial count favoring Rivera by 58 votes over his opponent, incumbent William Lantigua. The results of a recount showed a wider margin of 81 votes out of some 15,000 votes cast.[1] In August 2015, a group began recall efforts to remove Rivera from the mayoral seat.[2][3][4]

Early life and education

Rivera graduated from Lawrence High School in 1989.[5] In 1996, he graduated from UMass Amherst with a bachelor of arts.[6][7]

Political career

He is a former Lawrence City Council member. He was elected as mayor of Lawrence in 2013.[8][9]
