Dan J. Schmidt (born August 3, 1954 in Salem, Oregon)[1] is a Democratic Idaho State Senator since 2010 representing the 6th District.[2]
Education and career
Schmidt attended the University of Washington, where he earned his medical degree. He later served over ten years as the Latah County Coroner.
Elections
- 2012 Re-districted to District 5, Schmidt was unopposed for the May 15, 2012, Democratic primary and won with 1,219 votes;[3] he will face Republican Gresham Bouma in the November 6, 2012, general election, to succeed James C. Hammond, in a rematch of their 2012 District 6 election.
- 2010 First elected to the Idaho Senate in District 6, Schmidt ran unopposed in the May 25, 2010, Democratic primary, winning with 1,234 votes[4] and won the November 2, 2010, general election with 6,551 votes (53.3%) against Gresham Bouma (R),[5] who had defeated Senator Gary J. Schroeder in the Republican primary.
