Dana King (born March 7, 1960)[1] is an American broadcast journalist who served as an anchor for San Francisco CBS Affiliate KPIX. At the conclusion of the 11:00 p.m. broadcast of the KPIX nightly newscast on December 7, 2012, King announced that she would be leaving KPIX to pursue her passion in sculpting and art.[2][3]
King won a local Emmy Award for her reporting in Honduras in 1998 and 2000, reporting on the consequences of Hurricane Mitch.[1] King also won an RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Award in March 2005 for her reporting on the tenth anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide.[1] She is also known for her coverage of the conflict in Afghanistan, and the September 11 Attacks.[4]
In the early 1990s, King co-anchored ABC's Good Morning America Sunday,[5] before moving to CBS's CBS Morning News (1994–95)[6] and other CBS News programs.
King is a graduate of Ferris State University.
King is a competitive rower, taking up the sport in her 30s. Her four-woman team won a gold medal in 2006 at the FISA Master’s World Championship.[7]
