Dane Elkins

Dane Elkins is a Brentwood, California resident who holds 11 world outdoor racquetball championships and is a five-time USA Racquetball National Champion in junior divisions: three-time USA Jr. Olympic National Racquetball Champion and two-time USA National Singles Champion (Boys' Division, 14 and 18). He is a member of both the USA indoor and outdoor teams.[1]

Racquetball

He is a four-time National outdoor team member and has four times achieved outdoor racquetball #1 world ranking (in singles and doubles 2011 and 2013).[2][3] Dane also has won the Jr Olympic indoor nationals 16s in the red division as a 14-year-old.[4] In 2014, at the 47th annual USA Racquetball National Singles Championship (indoor), he won the gold medal in the boy's 14 and under and boys 18 and under (as a 14-year-old).[5]

Dane won a full scholarship to the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) pro racquetball/USA Racquetball (USAR) team at the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Olympic Training Seminar in 2011 and is a member of Ektelon's pro junior development team.[6]

At the 2014 Wilson Junior Olympics (indoor racquetball), Dane won the gold medal in 14-and-under boys doubles with partner Ricardo Diaz; he also won the gold medal for 14-and-under mixed doubles with partner Atossa Rejaei.[7] Dane has made the USA Junior National Team (indoor racquetball) and played at the World Championships in Cali, Columbia, representing Team USA in October 2014.[8] In July 2014, Dane attended the USOC Olympic Training Camp as part of the USA National Racquetball Team. He participated at the 2015 World Junior Outdoor Championships in Cali, Columbia and lost in the quarterfinals in doubles. Dane also won his first pro match in 2014 in Fresno, California, at age 15. Dane is currently ranked #165 on the Pro IRT (2015).[9]

Education and training

Dane was an honor student at Paul Revere middle school, was in the highly gifted program and was awarded Presidential award scholar student for his 3.97 GPA. He now attends Palisades Charter High School.

He is coached by Hall of Fame coach Debbie Tisinger Moore.[10] His father, Brett Elkins, is a world outdoor skills three-wall champion (2012) and head of the World Outdoor Racquetball Hall of Fame.[11] His younger brother, Cody Elkins, is currently ranked 2nd nationally in racquetball for boys 10 and under,[12] and finished 3rd in boys 10 and under at the 2014 Junior Olympics and finished 2d in boys mixed and boys 10 doubles in 2015.[13]
