Daniel Gortler (דניאל גורטלר) is an Israeli pianist and a faculty member of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel-Aviv University.

Education and early life

Born and raised in Israel, he began studying classical music and piano with Ms. Naomi Hachohen. He graduated from the Rubin Music Academy in Tel-Aviv. He continued his musical studies graduating from the Musikhochschule Hannover, where he studied with Professor Arie Vardi.

Mr. Gortler is an active faculty member of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel-Aviv University.

Other Classical ventures Daniel took part in are the Houston Summer Festival, the Montpellier - Luzern, festival in Schleswig-Holstein- Germany, the Israel Festival and the Verbier Music Festivals. A collaboration with Pinchas Zukerman led to an original video recording of Marc Neikrug's "Through Roses".

Chamber music focus

Daniel also performs Chamber Music frequently with artists including Nikolaj Znaider, Bo Skovhus and Steven Isserlis.

He has performed the complete cycle of Mendelssohn's "Songs without Words" in New York at the 92nd Street Y and at the Teatre Mogador, Paris. Later this performance has been recorded for JMC (Jerusalem Music Center).

BMG Classics recorded Gortler with violinist Nikolaj Znaider in 2003.

Recent performances

His most recent performances include recitals at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, recitals at the Lincoln Center and a debut with London's Philharmonic Orchestra. November 2007 was his debut at the Wigmore Hall in London.

In 2008 Daniel appeared at the Israeli Presidential Conference performing with Ido Tadmor, Ohad Hitman, Adi Cohen and the American dancer Desmond Richardson for Israeli President Shimon Peres, and American President George W. Bush along with 10 other Heads of State, VII Festival Internacional de Musica de Castilla y Leon, Schubert Festival Musikfest Schloss Wonfurt, Germany, 4th Gumusluk International Music Festival, Turkey for a recital and Masters Classes, Recital with Cellist Evgeny-Eliah Sakakushev in Madrid, Beethoven Concerto No. 1 with Zubin Mehta and the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, Bochum Symphony Orchestra under Julia Jones and Masters Classes at the Manhattan School of Music.

In 2009, Recital with Cellist Raz Cohen at Zavta, Tel Aviv, Schubert-Lieder Recital with Sharon-Rostorf Zamir, Schubertiada Festival Israel, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Piano Quintet with Carmel Quartet, Solo Recital at Enav Cultural Center.
