Daniel Christopher Newman is an American actor, Calvin Klein model and musician with work appearing on the Twilight soundtrack, and several TV series soundtracks, with roles on Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries, Homeland, Sex and the City, and Cirque du Freak, starring along Salma Hayek, Willem Dafoe, and John C. Reilly.[1]

Life and career

The avant-garde artist Daniel Newman has been celebrated for his acting, writings, music, and paintings as a muse by his peers such as Patti Smith, Harmony Korine, David LaChapelle, Bruce Weber, JT Leroy aka Laura Albert, Patrick McMullen,[2] Steven Klein, companies such as Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, and many others in the NYC and Parisian art scene. After growing up in the back woods of a small farm town in Georgia, Daniel moved to Brooklyn to pursue his music. Daniel studied at Yale University, through a special honors program before moving back to New York City to continue a music career. Daniel struggled as a musician for a short time before meeting well-known photographer, Bruce Weber. Daniel began modeling, appearing worldwide on magazine covers and various other advertising. Most notably, he modeled for Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Tommy Hilfiger. Daniel then landed several guest spots on popular American television shows including, Heroes, One Tree Hill and 7th Heaven.[3][4]

To enhance his talents as an actor, he began training at The William Esper Studio in New York City. Since then, he's appeared as Daniel Warren in "The Vampire Diaries", Jimmy Keppler in the NBC TV series, Heroes, and as Matt, on Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime, appeared with Snoop Dogg and Sarah Roemer in the feature film Falling Up, on One Tree Hill, as Trevor in Lifetime's highest-rated television movie ever, Fab Five, as well as appearing in numerous roles in the theatre in NYC and Los Angeles.

His most high-profile theatrical roles to date are playing Claire Danes lover in Homeland, his role on The Walking Dead, Daniel Warren on The Vampire Diaries, the feature film The Vampire's Assistant, based by the novel Cirque Du Freak, starring with Willem Dafoe, Salma Hayek, and John C. Reilly, as well as playing Razor in Road Trip: Beer Pong, and appearing in the remake of Stephen King's Children of the Corn, which aired on the Syfy channel in 2009. Daniel appeared as the role of Malachai, a character portrayed by Courtney Gains in the original 1984 film adaptation.

The Vanderbilts, Newman's rock band, is currently working with producer Tony Shimkin (Prince, Madonna) on an album. Daniel recently worked with Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction on a song for Twilight, and has several other of his songs on television/film soundtracks. His first album is "Whiskey Veins".

Newman was confirmed to be in the TV series The Vampire Diaries as Daniel Warren.[5] In 2012, he appeared briefly as one of Bane's thugs in The Dark Knight Rises.
