The Daniel Trust Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides mentorship programs and funding to teen and teacher activists. The foundation was founded by Daniel Trust in 2009 while attending Southern Connecticut State University. The foundation rewards and recognizes students with scholarships and teachers with grants who specifically are involved with social activism and community service. It is a 501c(3) non-profit organization with scholars and teacher honorees from California, Connecticut, and Georgia.[1] Four of the foundation’s 2014 eight scholars have appeared on lifestyle Connecticut TV shows life Better Connecticut on WFSB, Connecticut Style on WTNH, and Our Lives on News 12 Connecticut.

Mission

The Daniel Trust Foundation acknowledges students and teachers who try to improve the world.[2] The foundation helps minority, underrepresented and first-generation teens plan their education and careers with meaning and purpose through mentorships. The foundation also rewards and recognizes students with scholarships and teachers with grants.

Programs

The Student Scholarship Program is a 4-year $2,000 scholarship designed to support its recipients' educational endeavors. The scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who are working to improve their local and international communities through activism and service. Recipients of this scholarship receive $500 annually to fund college textbook expenses as well as other college materials.[3] In 2014, the foundation awarded eight scholarships. Four out of the eight Scholars were from the Bridgeport Education system.[4] The recipients' causes ranged from contributing to the special needs/disabled community, promoting world peace to advocating for human rights. The 2014 Daniel Trust Foundation Scholars were from California, Connecticut and Georgia and are currently attending the country’s most prestigious universities including the University of California at Berkeley, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, American University, and Fairfield University.
