Danilo Eccher

Danilo Eccher (Tione, Italy, June 27, 1953) is an Italian art critic and curator.[1][2]

Biography

He graduated in 1978 at University of Bologna – College of Literature and Philosophy.

In 1981 he started to work for the Trento department of RAI, making contemporary art programs and documentaries. In the same year he started his activity as an art critic, working for private art galleries and writing for art journals. From 1986 through 1992 he wrote for ‘Flash Art’, Milan.

From 1989 through 1995 he was Artistic Director at Galleria Civica d'Arte Contemporanea di Trento.

In 1993 he was a member of the artistic committee of the 45th Visual Arts Venice Biennial, co-curating the international exhibition 'La Coesistenza dell'arte'.

From 1996 through 2000 he was the Artistic Director of Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Bologna.

From 2001 through 2008 he was appointed Director of MACRO - Museo di arte contemporanea in Rome.

From 2002 through 2006 he was Co-director of the Master Class for “Contemporary Art and Architecture Curators”, ‘La Sapienza’ University of Rome.

From 2009 through 2011 he was President of the Fondazione Galleria Civica di Trento.

In 2009' he has been appointed Director at the GAM - Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Turin.
