Darius Cheung is a Singaporean engineer, serial entrepreneur, and investor.
As of May 2015, Cheung serves as the co-founder and CEO of 99.co, a property search portal based in Singapore. He also serves as an angel investor in multiple startups, Venture Partner at Golden Gate Ventures, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at INSEAD, as well as on the Board of Directors of Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE).
Education
Cheung is an alumnus of the National University of Singapore (NUS). He graduated from the NUS Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering with a minor in Technopreneurship. He also participated in the NUS Overseas College programme.
TenCube
After graduation, Cheung founded mobile security startup TenCube, which emerged as the Grand Champion of Startup@Singapore and subsequently received seed funding from the National University of Singapore.
The flagship product of TenCube, WaveSecure, allows mobile phone users to protect their lost or stolen devices and the data inside them. Cheung served as the CEO of TenCube for five years and led the company to profitability.
In 2010, TenCube was acquired by McAfee and won Cheung a string of accolades.
After Tencube's acquisition by McAfee, Darius was the Director of Consumer Mobile Technology at McAfee.
In January 2013, Darius founded Billpin, a bill-sharing mobile app. The company pivoted to a platform for finding flatmates called Homie in October 2013.[1][2]
99.co
In 2014, Cheung pivoted Homie[3] to 99.co,[4] a map-based property search portal that provided information on neighbourhoods such as commuting time, proximity to MRT stations, and food options in the area.
In January 2015, 99.co successfully raised a total of $2 million and was named by Singapore Business Review as one of the “hottest startups in Singapore in 2015”.
