Plot introduction

Vikirnoff Von Shrader is on a mission pursuing a beautiful women who is also being relentlessly pursued by the undead for an unknown purpose. He means for the mission to be his last. As an ancient, powerful Carpathian hunter he has survived centuries without color or emotion but he has reached the end of his journey and will seek his death. But the photograph of the women whom he is pursuing haunts his every waking moment. Natalya Shonski has been running her entire life never belonging anywhere. Human. Mage. Carpathian. All three flow strongly in her veins but she belongs to none of them. Relentlessly pursued by her enemies Natalya has taught herself to become a warrior. And to avoid Carpathians at all cost. For she believes that they are responsible for the murder of her brother. Her twin. But a strong compulsion drives her to the Carpathian Mountains. To an eerie, desolate mountain. As her enemies close in all around her she has no where to turn. In the midst of it all she makes strong psychic connections to a lost, tormented soul and has no choice but to reach out to soothe them. Too late she realizes it to be an ancient Carpathian hunter... Vikirnoff is shocked at the connection, seeing in color and feeling emotion for the first time in hundreds of years. Vikirnoff hastens to rescue her while Natayla fights desperately against her enemies, determined to avoid a confrontation with the hunter. Vikirnoff arrives in time to save her from her enemies but is terribly wounded in the process. Despite her hatred of Carpathians a deep complusion inside her prevents Natayla from leaving Vikirnoff and instead she goes against her instincts to help him. As the two become closer it becomes apparent that Natayla's past might not be as it seems and the compulsion to head to the mountain becomes more sinister in nature. Together they must piece together Natayla's memories in order to uncover a long, dark secret that threatens the very existence of the Carpathian people.
