Darkness Divided is an American Christian metalcore band from San Antonio, Texas.[1] "Combining elements from traditional metal bands and modern-day metalcore acts, the band offers an original and exciting sound in a rapidly flourishing metal scene.[2] With over 150 shows under their belts, Darkness Divided has developed an intense, high-energy live performance that has intrigued fans from clubs to festival stages across the United States, and has shared the stage with bands such as Haste the Day, Underoath, and For Today." The band has released 3 EP's, and their first full-length album came out on August 19, 2014 on Victory Records.

Band History
The band name is based on the Bible verse of Genesis 1:4, which reads "God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness."[5]
Darkness Divided started off as a worship band with Gerard, Joe and Chris playing Jeremy Camp and Third Day type music at their church youth retreats.[6] Later they started playing more metal type music and were influenced by and listened to bands like The Devil Wears Prada and As I Lay Dying.[7] They played their first show in 2010.[8]
Album History
Chronicles (self-released, 2012)
Darkness Divided went to Lambis Studio in San Diego, California to record an EP with Daniel Castleman in 2012. They released a 5 track EP called "Chronicles" in 2012 which was produced by Daniel Castleman. (Impending Doom, War of Ages, As I Lay Dying)[9]
Since releasing their EP “Chronicles” (produced by Daniel Castleman) in May 2012, the band’s most recent efforts are the singles “Redeemer” and “Voyager”, both for which they have premiered music videos. The Metal Resource says, “Yes, the Chronicles EP is metalcore and that label can carry a lot of negative connotations, but Darkness Divided do bring some variety to the sound that is a bit out of the norm and their latest singles show a further progression in sound that makes them a band worth checking out.” [10][11]
Written in Blood (2014)

Intelligently put together and expertly recorded, Written In Blood has the fuel and fire for a metalcore fan. It is obvious to me just by listening to the album that their live shows are electric with energy and absolute loads of fun. For fans of Christian metal, this is a must-have.
Jesus Freak Hideout says "Heavy metal newcomers, Darkness Divided, will release their Victory Records debut album, Written In Blood, on August 19th. Written In Blood is an 11-track assault of deeply penetrating, sometimes chaotic, sometimes melodic, but always brutalizing metal core riffage coupled with crushing rhythmic breakdowns and Gerard Mora's thunderously demanding vocals. Driven by faith and fueled by conviction, Darkness Divided are on a mission to prove that through suffering comes salvation." They released a new single called "A Well Run Dry" off their upcoming album to iTunes and released an animated stream of the song to YouTube on July 15.[13][14] They released their second single "The Hands That Bled" along with a music video on August 11.[15]
