Das letzte Streichholz
"Das letzte Streichholz" (German for The Last Match) is the second single from German industrial metal group Oomph! from GlaubeLiebeTod. The standard version of the single included the album versions of "Das letzte Streichholz" and "Mein Schatz". The limited edition single includes the two songs from the standard version, as well as two unreleased tracks ("Der Präsident ist tot" and "Die Hölle kann warten") and a remix of the title song.
Music video
The music video seems to be set in early 20th century Germany. A young girl is terrorized by her stepmother, stepbrother, and stepsister, while her father is away, presumably on a business trip. The young girl's stepsiblings frame her for numerous mischievous acts (e.g. breaking a ceramic ballarina figurine, dying white sheets blue while doing the laundry, etc.). Tired of being harassed by her "family", the young girl takes all of her stepfamily's most prized possessions and sets them ablaze. As she watches the fire and the step-family lament the loss of their possessions, the girl's father arrives home. The video concludes with the young girl with her father standing on the doorstep of what was formerly their home, smiling and waving to the antagonistic step-family, who have evidently been thrown out of the house as a result of their treatment of the girl. The lyrics of "Das letzte Streichholz" reflect what is shown in the video.
