Datapine (styled datapine) is a Berlin-based Software as a service company, operating primarily in the field of data visualization. It provides a cloud-based platform that communicates data visually to be used for business intelligence.[1] datapine was recognized as one of the top business intelligence companies in 2014.[2]

History

datapine was founded in 2012 by Martin Blumenau and Jakob Rehermann. Earlier, Blumenau founded another startup called appropo, a web agency.[3] Additionally, he has a background in consulting and investment banking at Merrill Lynch, while Rehermann worked in investment banking and strategy consulting for Deutsche Bank and Deloitte.[4]

Blumenau and Rehermann met in another startup where they needed data to determine key performance indicators for product behavior.[4] They collected the data but faced difficulties when it came to extracting and utilizing it as neither of them was a developer. They had to consult the IT department to extract the information and prepare the report.[4] Blumenau and Rehermann decided to create a tool that would enable its user to extract and visualize the data without requiring IT support.[4] datapine launched its public beta phase in April 2013.[5] The company launched the full version of its software in quarter three of 2014, having acquired users in more than 20 countries.[5] The company has raised a total of $4 million in funding, with the most recent $3 million coming from a Series A round led by Rheingau Founders.[6]

Platform

datapine is a cloud-based platform used for business intelligence, collecting and analyzing data.[7] Users can create interactive corporate dashboards with datapine, without IT support.[8] The dashboards collect real-time data from various sources to display it in one location.[9] The results can then be displayed in number, pie, and area charts as well as spider webs, scatter plots, and column/bar charts.[10] The software is working with SQL code, but no manual coding is required.[11][10]
