David Ames (born 10 August 1983) is a British actor, best known for his portrayal of Dominic Copeland in the medical drama Holby City. He made his first appearance in Holby City on 23 April 2013.
Early life and career
Before getting a degree in drama, Ames was involved in plays at college.[1] He appeared in the play The Temperamentals as Rudi Geinrich at Greenwich Theatre.[2][3] So So Gay called his performance in the play "touching".[4] In 2013, he joined the cast of Four:Play,[5] and Holby City as Dominic Copeland for guest role but the producers of Holby City decided to reintroduce the character on a permanent basis in 2014.[6][7][8][9] Dominic Copeland was not the first Holby City character he auditioned for.[10]
Ames appeared in Attitude in 2009 and Gay Times in August 2011 and August 2014.
Personal life
Before his acting career began, he lived with his family in Hampshire.[1] Ames suffers from body dysmorphic disorder;[11] and once weighed nearly 16 stone (100 kg), before he lost weight.[12]
Ames is openly gay.[13]
