David "Dave" Butler (born 23 March 1945) is an English former professional footballer who made nearly 300 career league appearances in a professional career which lasted from 1964 to 1976.

Born in Thornaby-on-Tees, Butler began his career with local side Stockton. During a professional career which lasted from 1964 to 1983, Butler played in the Football League for Workington and Watford.
