David Gelb (born October 16, 1983) is an American film director who directed the critically acclaimed 2011 documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi.[1] In 2015, he directed The Lazarus Effect.[2][3]

Life and career

Gelb was born in Manhattan, New York City, and attended the Masters School. His father is Peter Gelb, the general manager of the Metropolitan Opera. Gelb was inspired to make Jiro Dreams of Sushi in 2011 and later released The Lazarus Effect in 2015.[4] He created a food documentary for Netflix called Chef's Table, he considers it a follow-up to Jiro Dreams of Sushi.[5][6]

Gelb's 2015 documentary, A Faster Horse, is an unprecedented look into the development of 2015 Ford Mustang, timed to the 50th anniversary of the iconic car.[7]
