David Gibson (Scrabble)

David Gibson is a mathematics instructor and professional Scrabble player from South Carolina. He was the winner of the 1994 National Scrabble Championship, the 1995 Scrabble Superstars Showdown, and the 2003 Scrabble All Stars Championship. He currently resides in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

As of 2006, despite having played in a comparatively small number of tournaments, Gibson was the all-time leading money winner in Scrabble, primarily from winning the two largest tournaments in the game's history.[1] Due to his tendency to clinch tournaments before their final rounds, he has given his name to the term Gibsonization for a process of pairings in a single-elimination final.
