David Harrison (jockey)

David Paul Harrison (born July 8, 1972 in St Asaph, North Wales) is a former flat racing jockey, whose career ended when he damaged his spinal cord in a wreck on the horse My Chief in a race at Sha Tin Racecourse, Hong Kong, on May 30, 2001.[1] My Chief clipped the heels of another horse and took a heavy fall.[2]

During his 11 years in racing, Harrison's major wins included the Royal Hunt Cup for Queen Elizabeth II at Royal Ascot (Colour Sergeant) along with victories in the Hong Kong Derby (Holy Grail) and Irish St. Leger (Arctic Owl).[3] He rode many winners for trainer Brian Kan.[2]

Harrison was the British flat racing Champion Apprentice jockey in 1992.

After his accident, Harrison became an agent for other jockeys.[3]
