David Mazouz (/dəˈviːd məˈzuːz/;[3] born February 19, 2001) is an American actor. He first came to prominence for his lead role as mute Jacob "Jake" Bohm in the TV series Touch[4] and is best known as young Bruce Wayne in FOX's TV series Gotham, based on the DC Comics superhero created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane.[5]
Career
Mazouz started his career in commercials opposite Kiefer Sutherland at age eight.[3] In 2012, Mazouz again co- starred with Sutherland when he landed the role of mute Jacob "Jake" Bohm in the TV series Touch.[4] Mazouz has acted in several television series including Mike & Molly, The Office, and Criminal Minds. Mazouz also appeared in the ABC show Private Practice as the adopted brother of Betsy.
In 2014, Mazouz landed his biggest role to date as Bruce Wayne in Fox's TV series Gotham.[5] In 2015, he has a starring role in 6 Miranda Drive as Michael Taylor.[6] Mazouz was cast in the 2015 film, Incarnate.[7]
Personal life
Mazouz was born in Los Angeles, California, to Rachel, a psychotherapist, and Michael Mazouz, a physician.[8] He has a sister, Rebecca. His parents are Sephardi Jews. His father is of French Jewish background. His mother was born in the U.S. to Greek Jewish parents.[2][8] Mazouz loves movies, writing lyrics, learning guitar, singing, dancing, and acting.[9] He is fascinated with geography and maps.[9][10]
