David P. Steiner

David P. Steiner (born in 1960) is a business executive in the waste management industry.

Current executive roles

Steiner is Chief Executive Officer at Waste Management Inc., Director (since 2004) and President (since 2010). He is also a Director at TE Connectivity Ltd., Greater Houston Partnership, Tyco Electronics Corporation and FedEx Corporation, the latter of which he also holds the role of Lead Independent Director.[1]

For 2013 his total compensation was $10,726,582.[2] Listed as No. 23 of Houston’s Highest Paid Executives in 2014.[3]

Employment history

Prior to his current role at Waste Management Inc., Steiner held a variety of other key executive positions at the firm. These include: Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. He has been with the firm since 2000.[4]

He was also a Partner at Phelps Dunbar LLP. And an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.[5]

Education

Steiner has a BS in Accounting from Louisiana State University where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and a JD from the University of California, Los Angeles.[6]

Personal data

He is married to Judy and the couple has three children: Paul, Matthew and Michael.[7] In October of 2013, Steiner stated "if you can help in times like these, then you are freaking awesome, thanks."
