David Safaryan (Armenian: Դավիթ Սաֆարյան, born 1 August 1989 in Cherkessk, Russia) is an Armenian world and European champion Freestyle wrestler. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's freestyle 66 kg division.[1] He won the gold medal of 2013 World Wrestling Championship.[2]
Safaryan won a gold medal at the 2013 European Wrestling Championships in Tbilisi and became a European Champion.[3] He is the first Armenian to become a European Champion in freestyle wrestling in nine years. Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili came up and congratulated David afterward.[4]
