David Dephy
David Dephy Gogibedashvili (Georgian: დავით დეფი გოგიბედაშვილი Tbilisi June 21, 1968), also known as David Dephy, is a Georgian poet, novelist , performer,[1] multimedia artist and painter, the founder of the first Georgian poetic order Samkauly of 21st century and an original representative of modern Georgian culture.
Works
His works showed infinite phonetic and syntactical possibilities of the Georgian language which he issued to the public was praised by European critics as poetry and prose of absolutely new sounds and full of innovatory ideas. He is the author of a famous slogan "Stop Russia" and also the words combination "სიაLOVE". His novels and poetry became a cult event for a new Georgian generation. His work Before The End was chosen as a Best European Fiction 2012 ed by Aleksandar Hemon publishing house Dalkey Archive Press USA. His works are anthologized in a many collections of poetry and prose and published in USA, Mexico, Ukraine, Germany, Georgia. Some of David Dephy’s novels, short stories and poetry are released in Brazil and USA as a print form, also issued on American literary online magazine Wild River Review.
He is a member of international art project, world’s writers’ and poets’ residency Ledig House in New York also PEN World Voices Festival in New York, where he had a big poetry Live show The Second Skin with Laurie Anderson. NYC, April 29, 2011, also with Yusef Komunyakaa and Salman Rushdie at the Unterberg Poetry Center. Manhattan/ Lexington avenue 92Y. David Dephy gets many poetry actions and performances, in Ukraine, in the Netherlands, in USA and Georgia among them the live poetry performance at the Abastumani Observatory - Daphiony Supernova Domine with quadraphonic sound and visual effects.
In 1992 he graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. From 1995 to 2000, he collaborated with film directors Otar Ioseliani and Nana Jorjadze. In 2011, his short story "Before the End" was anthologized in The Best European Fiction 2012, edited by Aleksandar Hemon. He participated in PEN World Voices Festival 2011 in New York, as a poet and novelist. He was in poetry Live show ‘The Second Skin’ with Laurie Anderson in New York with Yusef Komunyakaa and Salman Rushdie.
