Davor Ivo Stier (born 6 January 1972 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a Croatian Democratic Union politician. Following Croatia's accession to the European Union in 2013, he was elected as one of the first group of Croatian members of the European Parliament.[1]
Stier was born into a Croatian expatriate family in Argentina—his paternal grandfather was a colonel in the Ustaše who left for South America after World War II.[2] Stier returned to Croatia in 1996 and worked as a diplomat in Washington and Brussels. He was also a foreign policy adviser to Ivo Sanader.[2] He was subsequently elected to the Croatian Parliament in 2011.[3]
