Dawgtown is an upcoming independent, traditional animated, action- drama feature film scheduled for a potential release between 2018 to 2020. The film will tell the story of a young pit bull named Max living in a brutal underground world of dog fighting, who must lead the other dogs there to a break of freedom. The movie is being directed, written, and co-produced by Jacksonville-based comic book artist Justin Murphy.

Plot

In a world of underground dog fighting, the story revolves around a pitbull named Max. As a competitor in the most highly funded pit-fighting organization in the world, he must lead the other enslaved dogs to a dangerous break for freedom, similar to the Book of Exodus.

Cast

Production

Production started in mid-2010, under the title Dawgtown. It was originally intended to be partially funded through Kickstarter, but after a failed attempt to reach its goal (a total budget of $70,000), it was now successfully funded through Indiegogo (although in a much more modest $12,100). The movie is currently being animated with TVPaint software. In mid-2013, Al Letson announced to play the MC announcer, and Jason Beghe announced on his official Facebook page that he will be playing Mauler.

Style

According to the official website, the movie's animation style is based on both Urban and Graffiti art.

Release

The movie is currently scheduled to be released sometime in 2018 - 2020.
