Dead of Summer is an upcoming American supernatural horror drama television series created by Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis and Ian Goldberg. It is set in the 1980s at Camp Clearwater, a Midwestern summer camp. Freeform (formerly ABC Family), gave a straight-to-series order in November 2015.[2] The show is set to air on Freeform beginning June 28, 2016.[3]

Production

Dead of Summer was ordered to series on November 18, 2015; along with announcement that ABC Family would be transforming into Freeform in January 2016. The series is looked at as a prime example of the networks more "edgy" transition. The show represents a reunion for Once Upon a Time creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and one-time-writer Ian B. Goldberg.[2] In February 2016, it was reported that Lost and Once Upon a Time stars Elizabeth Mitchell and Elizabeth Lail would headline the show; initiating another reunion between writers and cast.[4] The series began principal photography on March 21, 2016 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Horowitz will also direct the pilot episode, marking only his second episode of television to be helmed (the first being Once Upon a Time's fourth season thirteenth installment, "Unforgiven").[8] In April 2016, Freeform announced that the series would premiere Tuesday, June 28, 2016.[3]
