Dean Mayrand
Dean Mayrand (born September 9, 1977 in Windsor, Ontario) is a Canadian hockey player and boxer. Mayrand won the $62,000 first prize in the inaugural Battle of the Hockey Enforcers in 2005 in a split decision over Mike Sgroi.[1]
After playing junior hockey for the Kingsville Comets of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League, Dean turned pro and played in the United Hockey League and the Western Professional Hockey League. In 2002, he signed with the Saint-Jean Mission of the LNAH and also began his boxing career in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu with local boxers and kickboxers. He has an 11-5 amateur boxing record. He has amateur boxing wins against professional MMA fighter Steve "The Boss" Bossé. He lost against former amateur Canadien boxing champion and undefeated pro boxer Éric Martel.
