Dean Peterson (born 25 July 1988) is an Australian ice hockey player currently playing for the Adelaide Adrenaline in the Australian Ice Hockey League.

Playing career

Peterson first played ice hockey for Adelaide Avalanche of the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2006.[1] Following the end of the 2006 season Peterson left the club but returned for the start of the 2008 AIHL season. During the season the Avalanche folded operations and Peterson signed with the newly formed Adelaide Adrenaline.[2][1] In 2008 he also played for the South Australian state team in the Brown tournament for players 23 and under. He played four games, scoring two goals and recording five assists.[3] During his first season with the Adrenaline in 2009 Peterson recorded his best regular season in terms of points, recording 17 points in 21 games and the team went on to win the 2009 Goodall Cup.[1] In 2010 Peterson joined the Adelaide Blackhawks of the South Australian A Grade as well as playing for the Adrenaline in the 2010 AIHL season.[4] Peterson is currently in his fourth season with the Adrenaline, playing in the 2012 AIHL season.[1]

Peterson was first called up to represent Australia in 2006, where he joined the national under-20 team to play in the 2007 IIHF World U20 Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Miercurea-Ciuc, Romania. Australia lost the tournament and were relegated to Division III for the following year while Peterson failed to score any points during the tournament, recording only two penalties in minutes.[5] In 2010, Peterson was selected as part of the national senior team to compete in the 2010 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Mexico City, Mexico. Peterson finished the tournament with two points in five games while Australia finished the tournament in second place.[6]
