Biography

Death and the Penguin are a four-piece rock band from London, United Kingdom.[1][2]

Formed in 2013, the band consists of vocalist/guitarist Tobias Smith, guitarist/vocalist Christopher Olsen, bassist/vocalist Andy Acred and drummer/vocalist Timothy Brennik.[3] The band's musical style has been described as a combination of hardcore, indie and math rock, and has been compared to established acts such as The Mars Volta, Radiohead and Minus The Bear.[4][5][6] The band are also notable for wearing wooden bow ties during live performances.[7][8]

Discography

The band's debut single, 'Strange Times',[9] was released through Best Before Records[10][11] in November 2013,[12] aired on BBC INTRODUCING, XFM and Amazing Radio [13][14] as well as a compilation by the Big Scary Monsters Recording Company in December 2013.[15] The Music Video for 'Strange Times' was published in November 2013.[16] Second single, 'Snuffed Out' (produced by Sam King[17]),[18] was released in June 2014 through Best Before Records and featured on the Vevo [19] HQ Alternative/ Indie Mix 2014.[20]

The band's debut EP 'Accidents Happen' was released on 9 June 2014 on Best Before Records.[21][22][23]

Additional Information

The band have played extensively around London locations such as Hoxton, Brixton and Islington.[32][33]

In July 2014 their first headline tour took place across many various locations in the UK with the support from Speaking In Italics.[34]
