Tiahleigh Alyssa Rose Palmer, sometimes nicknamed Tia or Tiah, was a 12-year-old Australian schoolgirl who lived in Logan.[1]

Early life

Palmer was born in either 2002 or 2003. Cindy Palmer was her mother. At some point, she was taken into foster care by Julie Pemberton

Disappearance and death

Before her disappearance, Palmer was last seen at her school on 30 October, when she arrived but left at approximately 8:10 without attending any of her classes.[2] Police have said it is likely she was planning to skip school that day.[3] She was not seen for the rest of the 30th, and on 5 November, police released photos and information on Palmer in a press conference.[4] Later that same day, remains of a female aged 12–18 were found in the Pimpama River, and on the 6th, they were officially identified as Palmer's. Police then began a search for Palmer's backpack and school uniform, in a bid to capture her killer.[5] On 7 November, a vigil was held in Logan to honour Palmer, and, on 14 November, her funeral was held and was attended by hundreds of people.[6] On 4 December, a shoe was found around the area where Palmer's body was found, which police believe to be Palmer's.[7]

Investigation

The police had forensically examined a number of houses and vehicles in connection with the murder of Palmer. It is reported that the investigation has so far failed to find her missing backpack and school uniform. [8] [9]
