Decatur Independent School District is a 4A School District northwest of Fort Worth. Decatur ISD is centered in Decatur, Texas, the county seat in Wise County. The district has 5 campuses: Decatur High School, McCarroll Middle School, Carson Elementary School, Rann Elementary School, and Young Elementary. McCarroll Middle School itself encompasses two campuses: one for 6th grade and another for 7th and 8th grades.

In the 2007-2008 school year, Decatur ISD's enrollment was approximately 2,850 students, and in the 2012-2013 school year enrollment was approximately 3,000 students. [6]

In addition to Decatur, the district also serves a portion of New Fairview and Rhome.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[7]
