Decimal (unit)

A decimal (also spelled decimel) is a unit of area in India and Bangladesh approximately equal to 1/100 acre (40.46 m²). After metrication in the mid-20th century by both countries, the unit became officially obsolete. Especially among the rural population in Northern Bangladesh and West Bengal, it is still in use.

The unit is also commonly used in Uganda, especially in urban areas where land-sales are booming and traded plots are getting smaller and smaller.
