Deepan Chakravarthy
Deephan Chakkravarthy is an Indian Playback singer. He is the son of, the first playback singer in Tamil Film Industry, "Isai Thendral Shri.Tiruchi Loganathan" and grandson of Actress Shrimathi. C.T.Rajakantham.
Career
He made his debut into the music world in the year 1974 by performing various Stage shows. In 1975 he was first introduced to perform in AIl~India Radio By Shri. T. R.Papa. The same, year he was introduced to Doordarshan (IndianTelevision) By Shri. Thanjai Vanan.
From the year 1978 he has performed stage shows in countries like Malaysia, Singapore, London, France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Canada, Australia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Sri Lanka & Lebanon.In most of these countries, his was the very first Tamil film music show to be conducted.
In 1980, he entered Tamil film industry as a playback singer. Introduced by Isai Gnani "Maestro" Shri. Ilaya Raja. The First song sung by him was "Oh Nenjame Ethu Un Raghame" with Shrimathi S.Janaki from the film Enakaka Kathiru - Music by Shri. Ilaya Raja. Directed by Shri. Nivas. Lyric by Shri. Gangai Amaran But the song which was first released was "Poongathave Thazh Thiravai" from the Film Nizhalgal Music by Shri. Ilaya Raja, Directed Shri.Bharathi Raja, Lyric by Shri.Gangai Amaran which gave him "Super Hit and his First Award".
Acting career
He has also acted as hero in the movie Rani Theni directed by Shri G.N. Rangarajan and "Marupatta Konangal" directed by Shri Erode Murugesh.
He has acted in the movie Arasangam with "Shri. Captain Vijayakanth" in the supporting role in which his acting was very much appreciated. This movie was directed by Shri. MADESH .
He has acted as the Superintendent of police in the Tamil film Veeramum Eeramum (2007). In its review of the film, The Hindu wrote that Chakravarthy "fits the role of police officer".[1]
He is also acted in Tamil Television serials Megala on SUN TV and "Aaru Maname Aaru" in RAJ TV .
Awards
He received the "Thevar Award" from Shri. Amitabh Bachchan. He also received the "State Best Singer Award" for the year 1983 from Dr. M. G. Ramachandran, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the song "Poojaikaaga", Film Kathal Oviyam, composed by Shri. Ilaiyaraaja, Directed by Shri.P. Bharathiraja.
