Deepender Singh Hooda (born 4 January 1978)[1] has twice served as a member of parliament in India, where he represents the Indian National Congress from the Rohtak constituency in Haryana. He is the third generation of his family to hold such a position: Bhupinder Singh Hooda is his father, while his grandfather, Ranbir Singh Hooda, was a freedom fighter, a member of the Constituent Assembly and Minister in Punjab (when Haryana was part of Punjab).

Education

Deepender Hooda holds Bachelor of Technology and Master of Business Administration qualifications and was educated at Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences, Bhiwani Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak and Indiana University, Bloomington respectively.[1]

Personal life

In February 2010, Hooda married Sweta Mirdha, a grand-daughter of a former leader of the INC in Rajasthan, Nathuram Mirdha. Her older sister, Jyoti Mirdha, is a Congress MP for Nagaur, Rajasthan. He had divorced Geeta Grewal in 2005.[2]
