DSO National Laboratories

DSO National Laboratories (DSO) is the national defence research agency of Singapore. It was set up in 1972 by Dr Goh Keng Swee, then Defence Minister, to conduct research on future warfare. Originally named the Electronics Test Centre (ETC), it was renamed in 1977 to the Defence Science Organisation. Upon its incorporation as a not-for-profit company in 1997, it was renamed as DSO National Laboratories.[1]

Today, much of the work done by DSO has gone into Singapore's military, the Singapore Armed Forces, as well as into agencies responsible for homeland security. It has currently more than 1,000 scientists and engineers.
