Delta Hotels and Resorts is a four-star brand of hotels and resorts located primarily in Canada, with the first hotel in the United States added in 2015. The chain is wholly owned by Marriott International.

History

Delta was founded by William Pattison in 1962 in Richmond, British Columbia with a single 62-room motor inn called Delport Inn and expanded across British Columbia by 1970.[2]

Delta had had a hotel in the United States, the Delta Court of Flags Hotel,[3] located in Orlando, Florida, but it was closed sometime after 1996 and was subsequently demolished. The hotel chain was a 100% holding of Fairmont Hotels and Resorts from 1998 to 2007. On October 2, 2007, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation announced that it had acquired Delta Hotels.[4] On March 31, 2015, Marriott International acquired Delta Hotels from BC Investment Management Corporation.[5]

Delta is now a wholly owned brand of Marriott and is included in the Marriott Rewards Loyalty program as of early 2016. Marriott International's corporate head office is at 10400 Fernwood Rd, Bethesda MD.

Properties

Delta Markham

In 2015, Delta opened its 36th hotel and entered the United States with a new property in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.[6] Although its largest footprint is in Ontario, Delta Hotels can be found across Canada, in all ten Canadian provinces. In 2014, Delta opened their newest purpose-built hotel in downtown Toronto,[7] which, at 46 stories, became Toronto's tallest hotel-only tower.

Rewards Program

Delta featured its own rewards program, Delta Privilege. Since Marriott has acquired Delta, the Delta Privilege is being phased out and replaced by Marriott Rewards.[8]
