Derek Brin is a multi-platinum, award-winning[1] music producer, sound designer, and mix engineer[2][3] who founded Fierce Music Entertainment Inc.,[4] based in Toronto, Los Angeles, and the Caribbean. He is also CEO and creator of iCaribbeanTunes.com,[5] a major portal where the film, television, and video game industries can go to license music from the Caribbean. Brin, whose father is from St. Thomas and mother is Trinidadian, was born in Toronto, but raised between Toronto and the US Virgin Islands.[6]

Before starting his own company, Brin spent 10 years as the in-house Composer, Sound Editor, and Head of Audio Operations at Visual Productions, a film and television production company, based in Toronto and South Africa.[4]

Brin has worked with several of the industry's hottest artists, including Ne-Yo, Dan Hill, Jaheim, RuPaul, Kelly Price, Che'Nelle, Massari, Jane Zhang, Noel G, Dru, Andreea Bălan, Keo, Puya, Keshia Chanté, Kristine W, and Dream Warriors.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13]

Brin's work has been featured on So You Think You Can Dance, The Hills, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Degrassi Goes Hollywood, Wild Discovery, Supermarket Sweep, The Mom Show, Blue Murder, Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal, Cover Guy, The NHL Awards, and Fashion File.[8][11][14] He also contributed to Pokémon: The First Movie, Save The Last Dance 2, Blue Streak, Smokin' Aces, Poker Night, and Replikator.[1][15]

Brin has been engineer and programmer for hit songwriter Dan Hill since 2004 and programmer for industry heavyweights like Diane Warren (Realsongs), Guy Roche, Jud Friedman, and Allan Rich.[8]

Brin composed music for the television series, Adventures in Evergreen Forest, which won a Can Pro Award for Best Children's Programming.[14]

Brin received Canadian Juno Awards for Best R&B/Soul Recording (Keshia Chanté,[16] In Essence,[17] and Rupert Gayle[18]) and Best Rap Recording (TBTBT and Devon)[19] as well as many other nominations.

Brin received Canadian Urban Music Awards for Album of the Year and Best R&B Single. In 2004, he was nominated for Producer of the Year.[15]

In 1997, Brin produced and mixed the No. 7 Billboard Top 100 single "Do You Know (What It Takes)" by RCA/Transcontinental recording artist Robyn, which went gold in the US.[20]

In 2000, Brin produced and mixed the No. 1 Billboard Dance single "Stronger" by RCA recording artist Kristine W.[20]

In 2004, Brin co-produced and mixed the single "Unpredictable" for Sony/BMG recording artist Keshia Chanté, which went gold in Canada.[20]

In 2006, Brin's work earned nominations from the International Soca Awards for Best New Artist/Female and Best Female Vocal.[8][21]

In 2007, Brin co-wrote the song "Daddy Thing" for Warner recording artist Jaheim, which entered the Billboard Top 200 at No. 1.[8]

In 2007, Brin co-produced the song "Beautiful Surprise" for Philip7, which received a nomination for Best Alternative Song at the Barbados Music Awards.[22]

In 2007, Brin signed an international publishing deal with Ole Music Publishing.[8]

In 2009, Brin was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Urban Music Association of Canada (UMAC) as Director of Artist Relations.[7]

In 2010, Brin and music partner, Gary Serrao, received a nomination from the International Soca Awards for Best Soca Compilation Rhythm.[23]
