Desperate Journalist are a post punk band from England. The band was formed in north London in 2013, and have released an album, the self-titled Desperate Journalist, and the Good Luck EP, on Fierce Panda Records.

The band consists of Jo Bevan (vocals), Rob Hardy (guitar), Simon Drowner (bass) and Caz Hellbent (drums).[1]

The Quietus, reviewing their debut album, described them as "beautiful and spellbinding".;[2] Drowned in Sound said that they had "effortless grace" and praised Bevan's vocals.[3]

The band have headlined the 100 Club, and played indietracks and the Whitby Gothic Weekend.[4] They played a short European tour in spring 2016 and will later in 2016 support Chameleons Vox and Marion in the UK.[5]

The band's name derives from the response of The Cure to a critical review of their debut album Three Imaginary Boys by Paul Morley.[2]
