Dharmavaram ( ధర్మవరం ) is a village in West Godavari district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Kovvur mandal.[1] Dharmavaram belongs to the Coastal Andhra region. It is located 83 km to the east of District headquarters Eluru, 10 km from Kovvur, and 200 km from State capital Amravati. Dharmavaram Pin code is 534340 and postal head office is Vegeswarapuram.
Dharmavaram is a prosperous village near kovvur which is the mandal headquarters for it. It has a population of around four thousand in number.It has its own dedicated village panchayat office, one district secondary school and one village library.Also there are a dedicated co-operative society which is handy for farmers to get any fertilizers for the crops, Water Plant, Andhra bank, Private Hospital and`` a PHC(primary Health centre) which always reaches out to people to render its services in grave times. The majority of the population lives on agriculture due to availability of good water resources. The people in dharmavaram are well educated. It boasts of many educated youth settled in US and other countries, compared to another village in the mandal.
Penakanametta- Savaram (2 km), Kapavaram (3 km), Kovvur (10 km), Chagallu (6 km), Isukapatla-pangidi (5 km), Gowripatnsm (8 km), Dommeru (4 km), Malakapalli (1 km) and Tallapudi (10 km) are the nearby villages to Dharmavaram. Dharmavaram is surrounded by Kovvur Mandal towards the east, Thallapudi Mandal towards the north, Rajahmundry Rural Mandal towards the east, and Nidadavole Mandal towards the south.
In the era of Digital divide between Urban and Rural areas, This village can be seen as role model where there is less demarcation between these two categories. Almost every road in this village is well laid cement road and the pervasiveness of this development can be seen even through the remotest location of this village.
