Dhosth is a Malayalam film by Thulasidas released in 2001. It is an remake of a Tamil movie Kannedhirey Thondrinal released in 1998. It was a breakthrough for Thulasidas and stars Kunchacko Boban and Kavya Madhavan with Dileep in supporting role.

Plot

The movie is about two friends who go to the same college: Vijay (Kunchacko Boban) and Ajith (Dileep). They start out as enemies but end up friends.

Vijay loves Geethu (Kavya Madhavan) without knowning Ajith is her brother, which he later finds out. When Ajith tells Vijay about when his other sister eloped with his best friend, Vijay sacrifices his love without hurting Ajith and their friendship. Later Geethu attempts suicide. Ajith learns about Vijay being in love with Geethu. He becomes very happy to know this and the fact that Vijay tried to sacrifice his love for their friendship.

Production

The film cast Kunchako Boban and Dileep, the popular youth stars in Malayalam at that time. It was shot in Ernakulam and nearby places. The campus scenes were shot at Christ College, Irinjalakuda.

Box office

Dhosth was a superhit in the box office.
