Dick Renwick was an English football full back who made over 390 appearances in the Football League, most notably for Aldershot and Brentford.[1]
Playing career
Grimsby Town
Renwick began his career at Division Two strugglers Grimsby Town in 1962, departing the club the following year without making an appearance.[1]
Aldershot
In 1963, Renwick dropped down to Division Four to sign for Aldershot.[2] While failing to win any silverware, he was a near ever-present for his first five seasons at the club. After making just seven appearances during the 1968/69 season, he departed the Shots in early 1969. During his five and a half years at the Recreation Ground, Renwick made 231 appearances and scored four goals.[2]
Brentford
Neilson signed for Division Four side Brentford in early 1969.[1] He clocked up 106 appearances in just over two seasons,[3] helping the Bees to a fifth-place finish in the 1969/70 season and to the fifth round of the FA Cup in 1970/71.[1] Renwick departed Griffin Park in October 1971.[1] A hard player, teammate Jackie Graham later revealed Renwick "used to count how many stitches he'd put into people!".[4]
Stockport County
Renwick joined Division Four strugglers Stockport County in October 1971.[1] He made 30 league appearances and scored one goal during his single season at Edgeley Park, in which County finished second-from-bottom and won re-election to the Football League.
Rochdale
Renwick moved up to Division Three to sign for Rochdale in the summer of 1972. He hit the ground running, making 41 appearances during the 1972/73 season, but fell out of favour in the following campaign and left the club in the summer of 1974.
Darlington (loan)
Renwick returned to his native northeast to sign for Division Four side Darlington on loan during the 1973/74 season.[1] He made 19 appearances for the club.
Personal life
In the 2000s, Renwick was living in the Burnley area.[4]
